About Us

Leadership University (doing business as LeadU.ai) exists to help people lead themselves—and others—well in a world that is changing faster than any single person, organization, or system can keep up with alone.

We were founded on a simple but often overlooked truth: capability is no longer scarce—clarity is. In an age of accelerating technology, artificial intelligence, and constant disruption, more information, tools, and options do not automatically lead to better decisions, better leadership, or better lives. In fact, without self-knowledge and purpose, more capability often creates more confusion.

LeadU.ai was created to address this gap.

Our Origin

Leadership University began long before AI became mainstream. For decades, our work has focused on leadership development, coaching, and self-knowledge—helping individuals understand who they are, how they are wired, and where their energy and purpose truly live.

As AI began to reshape work, learning, and decision-making, one thing became clear: the future does not belong to those who simply adopt AI tools—but to those who know how to work with intelligence wisely.

LeadU.ai is our response to that moment.

What We Do

We help people build a right relationship with intelligence—human and artificial.

Self-Knowledge (how you think, decide, learn, and are motivated)
Purpose-Centered Leadership (acting from what matters, not just what’s possible)
Generative Inquiry (asking better questions before offering answers)
Human-AI Collaboration (using AI to augment clarity, not replace judgment)

Rather than pushing one-size-fits-all frameworks or “quick wins,” we meet people where they are and help them move forward with intention, restraint, and confidence.

Our Governing Philosophy
Our work at LeadU.ai is guided by a formal world model for action in an age of abundant intelligence, articulated in the Leading AI Manifesto. It defines how we lead, coach, and design with intelligence—human and artificial—by prioritizing inquiry before influence, purpose before optimization, and wellbeing before scale. The manifesto exists to prevent distortion before action occurs and to ensure intelligence is used responsibly, proportionately, and in service of human dignity.

Who We Serve

– Leaders navigating complexity and uncertainty
– Professionals adapting to AI-driven change
– Coaches, consultants, and educators
– Entrepreneurs and creators
– Individuals who feel capable—but under-aligned
– People who know something needs to change, but don’t want empty hype or fear-based narratives

Our programs are designed for beginners and experienced leaders alike, because learning to lead in this era is not about starting over—it’s about seeing more clearly.

Our Approach

We do not treat people as blank slates. We do not believe more pressure creates better outcomes. And we do not confuse speed with progress.

– Reducing unnecessary complexity
– Strengthening judgment and discernment
– Preserving human dignity in the age of machines
– Designing learning that actually transfers into life and work

Why It Matters Now

AI will continue to get faster, cheaper, and more capable. That trend is not slowing down.

What does matter is whether humans remain:

– Self-aware
– Purpose-guided
– Capable of wise action
– Able to collaborate—rather than compete—with intelligence

LeadU.ai is not about chasing the next tool. It’s about helping people stay oriented, capable, and human—on purpose.

Founder & Philosophy

Leadership University (LeadU.ai) was founded by Mike R. Jay, a leadership coach, educator, and systems thinker with more than three decades of experience working with executives, professionals, and organizations navigating change. Gary Gile became a founder in 2010 and works the business side of Leadu.com.

Mike’s work began long before artificial intelligence entered everyday life. Early in his career, he noticed a recurring pattern: highly capable people were struggling—not because they lacked talent or effort, but because they lacked clarity. They were being asked to grow faster, adapt more often, and carry increasing responsibility without a deeper understanding of how they were wired, what truly motivated them, or when change was actually required.

That insight became the foundation of Leadership University.

A Different Starting Point

– People are not blank slates
– More information is not always helpful
– Faster is not always better
– Capability without purpose leads to drift

Instead of asking, “What should I become?” we ask, “What is already here—and what no longer belongs?”

This philosophy emphasizes subtraction over accumulation, discernment over intensity, and alignment over performance pressure.

Purpose Before Optimization

At LeadU.ai, purpose is not something to be invented or imposed. It is something to be discovered, clarified, and honored.

– Understand their natural strengths and limits
– Stop forcing change that drains energy
– Make decisions that fit who they actually are
– Work with AI instead of being pushed by it

AI increases capability. Purpose determines direction. Without purpose, even powerful tools can pull people off course.

Human-Centered Intelligence

Mike’s philosophy holds that the future of leadership is not about competing with machines—but about cultivating the distinctly human capacities that machines cannot replace: judgment, meaning-making, ethical restraint, and relational awareness.

LeadU.ai exists to protect and strengthen those capacities. We design learning experiences that:

– Respect human pace and readiness
– Preserve dignity in times of disruption
– Help people act wisely—not reactively
– Encourage inquiry before advice

A Living University

Leadership University is not a static institution. It is a living system—continuously refined through teaching, coaching, inquiry, and real-world application.

The goal is not perfection. The goal is orientation.

In a world of accelerating intelligence, LeadU.ai helps people stay grounded, purposeful, and capable of choosing their next right action—clearly, calmly, and on purpose.
