The S:DISS-X Basic Practical: Learn to Help Without Taking Over
We advise too soon.
We interpret before we understand.
We try to solve before the real problem has appeared. That is why we created the S:DISS-X Basic Practical.S:DISS-X is the Selective Dynamic Inquiry System eXperience.
It teaches the selective use of seven forms of inquiry:
PING, PROBE, PROMPT, PERMIT, PERTURB, PAUSE, and PACE.
These are not “seven scripts” or “seven magic questions.” They are forms of inquiry that help you meet people where they are, notice what is actually happening, and support better next steps without taking over.
At the basic level, we keep the work simple.
You will learn to:
- see the helping move
- recognize the inquiry pattern
- choose the form that fits the moment
- notice what is important, motivating, urgent,
leveraged, and actionable - check readiness through RWAF:
Ready, Willing, Able, and Fit - check capacity through pCc:
potential, CAPACITY, and capability - support RightACTION instead of premature action
This basic training is framed around
L9–L11 practical learning:
L9: See the move.
L10: Recognize the pattern.
L11: Choose the form under simple conditions.
That means we start small on purpose.
Each practical exchange is short, clear, and designed to help you notice one to three basics at a time. The goal is not to impress you with complexity. The goal is to help you practice inquiry in a way that becomes useful in real conversations.
If you help people as a coach, consultant, manager, trainer, teacher, parent, advisor, or leader, this work may help you
slow down enough to help better.
Good helping is not about having the answer first.
It is about finding the fitting next move under real conditions.
That is what we call RightACTION.
